Dansk Wilton
The building
Dansk Wilton manufactures high-quality, custom-designed carpets for hotels, restaurants, offices, passenger ships, and more. The company was founded in 1953 by Johannes Jensen and is now owned by the family foundation.
The project is an outstanding example of modern architecture, where functionality and aesthetics go hand in hand. The building was designed by the architects Skaarup & Jespersen and was expanded in 2019 by artist Ingvar Cronhammar, adding several unique and inspiring elements to the existing structure.
With ongoing expansions and changes, new flooring sections have been installed, and parts have been renewed in line with the replacement of looms and other production equipment. The floors are subjected to heavy daily loads – heavy transport trucks continuously move through the building, and the air is continuously humidified to stabilise the indoor climate and control dust levels.
Choice of floor solution
For this project, Bilinga wood flooring was chosen for its durability and aesthetic quality. The floors have been in place for six decades and are still seen in and around the most heavily trafficked production areas. Over time, the surface has developed a natural patina, reflecting many years of use. Despite this, the floor remains functional and will continue to be usable for many decades to come.
